These past two days have been motivating, inspiring, and life changing. I recently let go of something holding me back and was able to free my mind, body, and soul.
Last week during my mid festival check in, my supervisor told me to create a project that would be fulfilling to me upon completion of my internship. Growing up I could not wait to leave Rhode Island - It was not until I transferred to a school in Pittsburgh, and then spent my summer in the Berkshires that I began to appreciate my home. With this in mind, I decided to pitch a marketing proposal reaching out to the very small, but art loving state of Rhode Island.
In addition to my internship assignments and appreciating my home state - I have grown to appreciate my heritage. Being brought up Jewish, I overlooked the importance of religion, culture, and heritage. This week an Israeli company, L-E-V premiered their work of "House" as a U.S. debut here at Jacob's Pillow. Prior to the performance, I knew nothing about the company besides the fact that they were Israeli based, and quite honestly didn't care to know more.
Tonight, while watching the performance - I cleared my mind and looked into my my heart and soul. L-E-V's piece made me re-discover my inner self. It made me appreciate the fact that a new style of contemporary, Gaga was being danced by an Israeli company. It made me appreciate that their companies name L-E-V, stands for heart in hebrew; and it made me realize that deep down I do love my religion, culture, and heritage.
I am beyond words tonight. I am so glad that I have found my true self and can strive for excellence before the summer is over. If you are in the area, I recommend making an effort to see the performance - it is truly indescribable.
Peace. Love. Happiness <3
