Before things got hectic - production interns and artist services interns planned and presented The Pillow Staff with the "Fire & Ice Masquerade" on the Ted Shawn Theatre Stage. It was a fun night outside of the offices getting to know all the interns, staff, and apprentices. We also held a bonfire during the week for interns and staff - roasting marshmallows and enjoying our nights off before the festival begins.
Now with three days until Gala, and one week until our festival opening everyone is rushing to make deadlines and preparing for our artists arrival. The ballet students arrived on Monday, and I am looking forward to setting up interviews with a select few to feature their profile for The School at Jacob's Pillow. I am currently working on designing an opening week flyer that will be emailed to local shops in the community, and dance studios near by. In addition to the opening week flyer I am in the process of creating a flyer to present to LGBT organizations, websites, and publications to market our "Weekend Out" festivities. The Box Office has been busy busy and tickets are selling fast - I'm so excited for the festival to begin.
In addition to my duties here at Jacob's Pillow I am learning a lot about myself. For those of you that know me well, and have worked with me, you may know that I can be impatient and sometimes take control. Knowing that these are some of my weaknesses I have been concentrating to overcome these characteristics and am making sure to limit these bad habits. This experience is teaching me not only professional skills but personal skills and I could not be happier to strive and grow into the person I am becoming.
